Ground ivy herb contains essential oil, rosmarinic acid, flavonoids, triterpenic acids and hydroxy fatty acids, among other things. In folk medicine, ground ivy is often used as an ingredient in cough and gastrointestinal tea mixtures. It is also said to have favourable effects on loss of appetite, on the gastrointestinal tract and on the liver, gall bladder and kidneys.
