Eyebright (Euphrasia rostkoviana HAYNE), also known as St Augustine's herb or Grummet flower, belongs to the brown root family (Scrophulariaceae). The flowering herb of the eyebright is used. Its ingredients are the iridoid glycoside aucubin, lignans, flavonoids, as well as tannins and bitter substances. Eyebright is said to have a positive effect on inflammation of the conjunctiva.
