Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus L.), also known as blueberry, is a member of the heather family. The fruit contains catechin tannins, flavonoids and anthocyanins (blue colouring). Blueberry extract, incorporated into a high-quality ointment base with almond and jojoba oil, can be used to treat poorly healing wounds and dry skin.
