Bell bindweed root (Codonopsis radix) is regarded in traditional Chinese medicine as a stimulating and strengthening agent (strengthens the Qi of the centre). Bell bindweed root is used in Ayurvedic medicine for loss of appetite, weakness, states of exhaustion, vomiting, shortness of breath, coughs, lung qi and spleen qi weakness.
