The genus Capsicum, also known as cayenne pepper, chilli, peperoni or pfefferoni, belongs to the nightshade family (Solanaceae). The substance responsible for the heat is called capsaicin. Paprika incorporated into an ointment base is excellent for muscle, joint and nerve pain.
