Nutmeg is the dried kernel of the fruit of the nutmeg tree, with the seed coat removed; it contains essential and fatty oils (Myristicae oleum) and is mainly used as a spice. In traditional Indonesian medicine, nutmeg is commonly used to treat digestive complaints, rheumatism, coughs and nervousness.
