Myrrh refers to the dried gum resin from the trunk and branches of the myrrh tree. This tree produces the antiseptic resin to protect itself against unwanted intruders and to seal wounds. Even the Three Wise Men from the East brought myrrh as a gift for the newborn baby Jesus; at that time, it was one of the most precious commodities of all. In ancient Egypt, myrrh was used for embalming and became a symbol of immortality. Women in the East would rub the tree resin into their armpits to benefit from its deodorising effect; according to tradition, the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti herself used an ointment containing myrrh.
Thanks to its intensely moisturising properties, 3% Myrrh Oil Ointment is suitable for use on demanding, rough and very dry skin. For acne and fine dryness lines, this cream improves the skin’s appearance. Thanks to myrrh’s antiseptic and astringent properties, this ointment can also be used as a complementary treatment for minor cuts and grazes. Finally, myrrh oil has also proven effective for joint problems and pressure sores caused by prosthetics.
