The mulberry tree, also known as the fig tree, is a member of the mulberry family (Moraceae). Mulberry leaves are generally said to have blood sugar-lowering, laxative and expectorant effects. In traditional Chinese medicine, the leaves are used for flu-like infections with coughs and fevers, but they are also used in Ayurveda for sore throats.
