Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris L.) belongs to the Asteraceae family. The most important ingredients of mugwort are essential oil (cineole and thujone), bitter substances and tannins. Hildegard von Bingen already appreciated mugwort and in her writings she recommended eating it boiled or adding it to other dishes. Mugwort tastes spicy, slightly bitter and smells aromatic.
