In folk medicine, meadowsweet has always been used as a diuretic, as a diaphoretic and for muscle and joint rheumatism, but also for gout. The plant is said to have anti-inflammatory, astringent and antipyretic properties. Meadowsweet is said to have particularly favourable effects on colds and minor aches and pains.
