Lime trees are deciduous trees, grow to a height of between 15 and 40 metres and can live for up to 1000 years. They are particularly notable for their high tannin content, but also contain various sugars, healthy fats and enzymes. Lime leaves are said to have blood-purifying, diaphoretic and anti-inflammatory properties. They are also said to have a positive effect on sore throats and to calm the nerves
