Bird's knotweed (Polygonum aviculare L.) is a plant species from the knotweed family (Polygonaceae). It is thought to have mainly astringent properties. Bird's knotweed is also a valuable aid for the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat. Bird's knotweed is mainly used externally in the form of poultices to support wound care. It is also a valuable ingredient in tea blends such as cough and blood cleansing teas.
