Pater Severin Ivy Leaf Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an ancient monastic recipe. It is made from a 100 per cent aqueous/alcoholic extract of ivy.
Saponins are found in all parts of the ivy plant, although the leaves are predominantly used. The plant also contains phenolic carboxylic acids, polyacetylenes, flavonoids (e.g. rutoside) and essential oil. Ivy leaves have a long tradition of use. They have proven particularly effective for colds and various types of cough – acting as an expectorant, promoting the clearance of phlegm and soothing the cough reflex.
