Pater Severin Ivy Leaf Spray is a dietary supplement based on an old monastery recipe for ingestion. It is made from a 100 % aqueous/alcoholic extract of ivy.
Ivy contains saponins in all parts of the plant, but the leaves are predominantly used. The plant also contains phenolcarboxylic acids, polyacetylenes, flavonoids (e.g. rutoside) and essential oil. The areas of application of ivy leaves have a long tradition. Ivy leaves have proved particularly effective for colds and various forms of cough - expectorant, expectoration-promoting and cough-irritant.
