Hyssop belongs to the labiate family (Lamiaceae). Only the flowering herb of the plant is used, which is also known as bee herb and spice hyssop. In folk medicine, hyssop is known as a stimulant for digestion and for stomach and intestinal disorders. It is also said to have an expectorant effect on coughs.
