The golden poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is also known as Eschscholtzia. The golden poppy contains mainly alkaloids and essential oil. The herb is said to have calming and sleep-inducing properties. Native Americans used the golden poppy as a sedative, sleep aid and painkiller.
