Pater Severin Fucus Drops are a dietary supplement for oral use. The Fucus Drops contain a high-quality aqueous/alcoholic extract of bladderwrack.
Common bladderwrack (Fucus vesiculosus L.), also known as ‘sea oak’, belongs to the family of brown algae (Fucaceae). A distinguishing feature of bladderwrack is its characteristic, fishy odour. The main constituents are the iodine naturally present in the seaweed, β-carotene, alginic acid, fucoidan and laminarin. In folk medicine, common bladderwrack is primarily used as a tea; today it is included in slimming tea blends. Hildegard von Bingen also describes a so-called ‘weight-loss elixir’ in her writings.
