Pater Severin Frankincense Extract Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an ancient monastic recipe. It is made from an aqueous/alcoholic extract of frankincense in a ratio of 1:5.
Frankincense is the resin of the Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata). In traditional Indian naturopathy, ‘Ayurveda’ (the science of healthy living), the resin has been used as an important remedy under the name ‘Sallaki’ for over 3,000 years. In this system of medicine, the resin is used to treat a range of inflammatory conditions. It now appears certain that boswellic acids inhibit inflammatory processes. Both ground raw resin and extracts are used in preparations. However, dry extracts are most commonly used; these are said to have a beneficial effect on rheumatism, gout and respiratory conditions, as well as on stomach and intestinal complaints and migraines.
