Frankincense has a long tradition: its use has been handed down in Indian Ayurveda for over 5000 years. According to this, frankincense is said to have a harmonising effect on the human energy cycle. In addition to essential oils and tannins, frankincense resin primarily contains resin acids (boswellic acids). These balance out the body's own excessive reactions and are beneficial for strained backs and joints. Incorporated into an ointment base of lanolin, almond oil and jojoba oil, frankincense is suitable for all skin types. The air-dried resin of the Indian frankincense tree (Boswellia serrata) is used in frankincense extract ointment. This extract has a high proportion of boswellic acids (at least 85%) and is therefore of particularly high quality
