Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a member of the Fabaceae family. The ingredients of fenugreek seeds are mucilage (especially mannogalactans), protein, fatty oil, steroid saponins, flavonoids, bitter substances and essential oils. In medicine, the ripe, dried seeds of fenugreek (Foenugraeci semen) are known to stimulate the appetite and lower blood sugar levels.
