Pater Severin Eyebright Spray is a dietary supplement for oral use, based on an old monastic recipe. It is made from a 100 per cent aqueous/alcoholic extract of eyebright.
Eyebright (Euphrasia rostkoviana HAYNE), also known as St Augustine’s herb or grummet flower, belongs to the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae). The flowering herb of eyebright is used. Its active constituents include the iridoid glycoside aucubin, lignans, flavonoids, as well as tannins and bitter principles. Eyebright is said to have a beneficial effect on inflammation of the conjunctiva.
