The root of Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian ginseng) is the parallel drug or "substitute" for ginseng root, also known as "taiga root". The taiga root belongs to the Araliaceae family. The ingredients are lignans, coumarins, polysaccharides and ginsenosides. The root and the extract from the rhizome are used. They generally have resistance-enhancing and invigorating properties.
