Cubeb pepper belongs to the pepper family. Cubebs are the fruits of a perennial, clinging shrub that can grow up to six metres tall, and are now mainly cultivated in Indonesia. The scent of cubeb pepper is slightly reminiscent of turpentine. It is said to possess antiseptic properties.
