It takes up to five tonnes of verbena leaves to produce one kilo of this essential oil. verbena is co-distilled with citronella, i.e. citronella oil is added to the water vapour used to distil the verbena leaves during the distillation process, resulting in a blend of verbena and citronella scents. This precious fragrance has a balancing and motivating effect in cases of listlessness and tiredness, as well as a relaxing effect in cases of stress and aggression.
