Active ingredients

• Salicylic acid: Salicylic acid is a particularly effective ingredient that combats the symptoms of blemished skin: clogged pores and bacterial growth. For this reason, it is a key ingredient in several Eucerin DERMOPURE formulas. Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that has keratolytic (i.e. it removes dead skin cells and softens the skin) and comedolytic (i.e. it opens clogged pores) properties. Overall, it improves the appearance of the skin: it reduces blemishes and prevents new blemishes from forming.
• AHA: L-carnitine is an amino acid derivative found naturally in the skin and is synthesised from lysine and methionine. It plays a crucial role in cellular energy metabolism by promoting β-oxidation, the process by which fatty acids are converted into energy. Key benefits: Sebum regulation: facilitates the uptake of fatty acids into the mitochondria where they are converted into energy rather than sebum, effectively reducing excessive sebum production. Activation of lipid metabolism: improves cellular β-oxidation ("fat burning") and reduces intracellular lipid accumulation, contributing to a balanced skin environment.
• PHA: PHA stands for polyhydroxy acid. At Eucerin we use PHA gluconolactone. With its hydroxy groups and larger molecule size, this exfoliating acid penetrates the skin more slowly. It is therefore particularly suitable for sensitive skin. It moisturises and makes the skin smoother and more even.
