Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus: Portable nebuliser with oscillating membrane technology

Inhalation is recommended for conditions affecting the upper and lower respiratory tract, such as allergic asthma, acute or chronic bronchitis, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), cystic fibrosis or even acute sinusitis, inhalation therapy is recommended.

The Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus is a modern inhalation device that nebulises inhalation solutions or liquid medicines into very fine droplets. This is achieved by the vibrations of a membrane located inside the device. During inhalation, the active ingredients thus reach the finest branches of the bronchi, where they can act directly on the mucous membranes.

When used regularly, inhalation therapy can alleviate acute respiratory conditions and their associated symptoms, and support the healing process.

For colds, natural solutions, such as isotonic solutions made from natural Emser salt, are very well suited for inhalation. They relieve symptoms and can sometimes prevent a cold from getting worse.

If you have been diagnosed with a chronic respiratory condition, inhalation therapy should always be carried out in consultation with your doctor. The Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus can also be used to inhale medication prescribed by your doctor; please refer to the instructions for use.

Adjustable nebulisation rate

The new Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus features an adjustable nebulisation rate of ≥ 0.2 ml/min and ≥ 0.4 ml/min. The advantage is that it can be individually adapted to different needs. Depending on the setting, the device nebulises the solution at a rate of at least 0.2 ml or 0.4 ml per minute. The lower setting ensures moderate, steady delivery – ideal for children, sensitive airways or smaller quantities of medication. The higher setting allows for faster administration, for example for adults or when a larger quantity of medication needs to be administered in a shorter time. This allows the inhalation to be optimally tailored to the individual user and the treatment situation. 

Now new: flexibly swivels up to 45° 

Thanks to the optimised nebuliser attachment, the Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus can be tilted up to 45 degrees to the side, upwards or downwards without the inhalation solution leaking. This makes use more flexible; the user can operate the device in a more comfortable position, which significantly simplifies use even with limited mobility. This allows the position to be individually adjusted, for example for inhalation in children or those requiring care.

Intelligent aerosol technology stops nebulisation during exhalation

A brand-new feature of the Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus is its intelligent aerosol technology, which stops nebulisation during exhalation: the inhaler is equipped with an intelligent control system that detects exhalation and temporarily interrupts nebulisation during this phase. Why is this useful? As well as making the device more comfortable to use, this technological innovation can improve efficiency and effectiveness: otherwise, the inhaled medication would be released into the air unused for the duration of exhalation. Consequently, the technology can increase the uptake of the active ingredient into the bronchi.

Directions for use

Preparing the inhaler:

1. Slide the medicine chamber with the nebuliser into the housing from the front until it clicks audibly into place.
2. Open the medication chamber by opening the clip and flipping the lid upwards.
3. Pour the medication and/or saline solution into the medication chamber. Close the lid so that the clasp clicks into place.
4. Attach the required accessory (mask, mouthpiece or paediatric mask) to the medication chamber.
5. Place the device against your mouth (mouthpiece) or hold the mask over your mouth and nose. Inhalation can now begin.

Inhalation with the Emser® Inhalator Compact plus:

• Breathe in deeply and slowly through your mouth or nose. Hold your breath briefly and then breathe out gently. Keep the device as vertical as possible whilst doing so. Please also follow the instructions for use provided with the medication you are using.
• An inhalation session using the isotonic Emser salt solution should last approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The device is fitted with an automatic shut-off function which activates as soon as the liquid is almost used up.

After inhalation: 

• Remove the accessories used, such as the mask or mouthpiece, from the medicine chamber. Then remove the medicine chamber and nebuliser from the device by pressing the button on the back of the device and pulling the medicine chamber forwards horizontally.
• The nebuliser with its chamber, as well as the accessories, should be cleaned after each use for approximately 5 minutes using warm water (maximum 40°C), ideally distilled water. To clean the medication chamber, please also follow the self-cleaning procedure described in the instructions for use. Then dry the individual parts with a soft cloth and leave them to dry completely on a clean, absorbent surface. Only then should you reassemble the parts and place the device in a dry, sealed container (see also the instructions for use).
• It is recommended that you disinfect the individual parts regularly. You can disinfect the nebuliser, the medication chamber and the mouthpiece in two different ways: with ethyl alcohol or in boiling water. The masks, however, must be cleaned with ethyl alcohol. Please refer to the user manual for further details.

Which medicines can be used for inhalation?

• We stock isotonic and hypertonic inhalation solutions containing natural Emser salt. If your doctor recommends another medication for inhalation, it must have a viscosity of < 3.
• Medicines containing oil (e.g. essential oils) must not be used for inhalation in the Emser® Inhalator Compact Plus, as this may cause the nebuliser to become clogged. Do not fill the device with medication in solid form; suitable medications must first be dissolved in accordance with the relevant instructions for use. Naturally, only your doctor can decide which medication should be used to treat your condition.
