Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets are a mineral preparation and contain magnesium L-aspartate hydrochloride trihydrate as the active ingredient. Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets are taken for the prevention and treatment of magnesium deficiency states.

- In the case of chronic magnesium deficiency, you should take Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets daily for at least 4 weeks. Long-term therapy (over years) is also safe with normal kidney function, as excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.

Active ingredients

Magnesium is a vital mineral that the body cannot produce itself. It must therefore be supplied in sufficient quantities with the daily diet. Good sources of magnesium are primarily natural foods such as wholemeal cereal products, unhulled rice, nuts and seeds. Our body needs magnesium for a variety of metabolic processes. Every energy-dependent process - from the movements of the muscles to the activities of the internal organs - is ultimately dependent on the presence of magnesium. In addition, magnesium influences the distribution of other minerals in the body and is therefore important for the correct balance of electrolytes. Magnesium is very important for the muscles and the nervous system. As a component of the skeletal system, magnesium is also important for stable, healthy bones and teeth.

How to use

An average daily dose of 0.185 mmol magnesium (4.5 mg) per kg body weight is recommended. In chronic and severe acute magnesium deficiency states, the daily dose can be

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is

Adults and adolescents over 14 years: 2 film-coated tablets 3 times daily (equivalent to 364.8 mg magnesium)
Children aged 10 - 14 years: 2 film-coated tablets twice daily (equivalent to 243.2 mg magnesium)
Children from 4 - 9 years: 1 to 2 times daily 2 film-coated tablets(corresponding to 121.6 - 243.2 mg magnesium)

Route and duration of administration: Please take the film-coated tablets whole with sufficient liquid (preferably a glass of water). Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets should be taken before meals, as this improves absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream .

Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets should be taken daily for at least 4 weeks in cases of chronic magnesium deficiency. Long-term therapy with Emgecard 2.5 mmol film-coated tablets (over a period of years) is also safe if kidney function is normal, as excess magnesium is excreted via the kidneys.

The active ingredient is: Magnesium-L-aspartate hydrochloride trihydrate
1 film-coated tablet contains magnesium L-aspartate hydrochloride trihydrate 614.8 mg corresponding to 60.8 mg (= 2.5 mmol) magnesium
The other ingredients are: potato starch, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, Eudragit L, talc, dimethicone, triethyl citrate .
