DulcoSoft® oral solution, 250 ML

DulcoSoft® Solution is a medical device for softening hard stools and for the symptomatic treatment of irregular, hard bowel movements.

If normal bowel function is slowed down, this can lead to hard, compact stools and difficult, painful bowel movements. DulcoSoft solution contains the osmotically active ingredient macrogol 4000, which binds water and thus increases the fluid content in the large intestine. This softens hard stools and facilitates their passage through the bowel – promoting regular, easier bowel movements. 

Macrogol 4000 acts purely through physical means. Its absorption into the bloodstream is negligible; it remains in the bowel, from where it is excreted unchanged. The product’s efficacy remains unchanged even with prolonged use. 

DulcoSoft Solution is used for:

• softening hard stools
• Relieving irregular, hard bowel movements

Onset of action 

• Soft stools within 24–72 hours (usually within a day)

Directions for use

• Adults and children aged 8 years and over: Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is: 20 to 40 ml of solution (equivalent to 10 to 20 g of Macrogol 4000) per day, preferably as a single dose in the morning.
• Children aged 4 to 7 years: Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is: 16 to 32 ml of solution (equivalent to 8 to 16 g of Macrogol 4000) per day, preferably as a single dose in the morning.
• Children aged 2 to 3 years: Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual dose is: 8 to 16 ml of solution (equivalent to 4 to 8 g of Macrogol 4000) per day, preferably as a single dose in the morning.
  
• Method of administration: The dose of DulcoSoft solution is measured using the measuring cup provided and may be adjusted depending on the effect achieved. The correct dose is the lowest dose that results in regular, soft stools. Use: DulcoSoft solution is suitable for daily use. Depending on individual needs, the recommended dose may be taken daily or every other day. DulcoSoft Solution should only be taken when diluted. DulcoSoft Solution is flavourless and can be mixed with a drink of your choice, e.g. a glass (approx. 150 ml) of water, fruit juice or tea, to suit your personal taste.
• Please note: The effect of DulcoSoft solution usually sets in 24 to 72 hours after taking it. Clinical studies show that, with regular use, a bowel movement normally occurs once a day. If constipation persists for longer, the cause should be investigated. Children should not take DulcoSoft Solution for longer than 3 months.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: DulcoSoft Solution can be taken during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding, as the absorption of macrogol 4000 is negligible and, for this reason, no effects are expected. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advisable to consult your doctor before taking DulcoSoft Solution.
  
• Notes: DulcoSoft® Liquid should not be used for longer than 28 days. If symptoms persist for longer, the cause should be investigated by a doctor.
  

Ingredients

• 10 ml of oral solution contains: 5 g of macrogol 4000 in dissolved form.
• Other ingredients: Macrogol 400, citric acid, potassium sorbate (preservative) and purified water.
