The tick tweezers remove ticks in one piece without crushing them. The grippers open by pressing with the thumb like a biro. The self-holding mechanism of the tweezers allows easy handling. Application
Larger parts of the mouthparts (also incorrectly referred to as the "tick head") often tear off and get stuck in the skin. This can be avoided if the tick is twisted out of the skin.
The twisting movement causes the barbs, which are firmly anchored in the skin, to be carefully pulled out.
Simple and safe removal: Grasp the tick close to the skin and slowly twist it out (approx. 2-3 complete rotations).
- Press the push buttons.
- Place the forceps on the tick.
- Slowly remove the tick.
- Disinfect the tick forceps with 70 % alcohol after use.
- The bite site should also be disinfected after removing the tick. Early removal of the tick (within 12 hours of the bite) can reduce the risk of infection.
Medical attention should be sought after a tick bite: if there is localised redness (> 5 cm) or swelling at the site of the bite. Symptoms occur such as malaise, headache, fever (similar to a flu-like infection). If the tick could not be completely removed.
