Product information "Dr Kottas Fresh Idea Herbal Tea"
Dr Kottas Fresh Idea is a tasty herbal tea made from 6 natural herbs in organic quality.
Like a visit to a healthy meadow! DR. KOTTAS Fresh Idea has a pleasantly refreshing effect thanks to the lemony flavour of lemongrass and the cooling freshness of peppermint, promotes well-being and tastes wonderfully of aromatic plants.
Lemongrass (Folium Citronellae)
- Lemongrass originates from cultures where the grass-like or reed-like perennial probably originated in East Asia. It is cultivated in large parts of tropical Asia and South America for medicinal and culinary purposes and grows in clumps up to one metre high and can be cut three to four times a year. The name comes from the lemon-like scent that the grass gives off when crushed. The citral in the essential oil is responsible for the fragrance and the fruity, tangy flavour.
- Effect: The fresh odour has a refreshing and invigorating effect on tiredness, exhaustion and general weakness. Lemongrass is often used as a flavouring component.
Hibiscus (Flos Hibisci)
- Hibiscus (also known as red mallow or karkade) is an annual plant that grows up to 5 metres high. The calyxes and outer calyxes harvested and dried during the fruiting season are used.
- Effect: Hibiscus flowers have a typical pleasantly sour taste; the drinks prepared from them are thirst-quenching and have an intense red colour. No specific medicinal effect is known; in folk medicine, red mallow is used to treat colds and circulatory problems and as a mild laxative.
Peppermint (Folium Menthae piperita)
- Peppermint is a spontaneous cross between two species of mint (M. spicata and M. aquatica). It is sterile, i.e. it cannot reproduce naturally. It was first discovered in England in 1696 in a field of spearmint and has been cultivated in the form of seedlings ever since. It grows up to 90 cm high and contains essential oil. The leaves have a characteristic odour when crushed.
- Effect: The main active ingredient in peppermint is essential oil, especially menthol. Peppermint leaves are used to treat colds and headaches and relieve cramp-like complaints in the biliary tract and gastrointestinal tract.
Lemon balm (Folium Melissae)
- This perennial, usually highly branched plant grows to a height of around 30 to 70 cm. Its egg-shaped leaves have a lemon-like odour and taste. The typical odour is due to the essential oil (with the main components citral and citronella).
- Effect: Lemon balm has a calming effect and helps with nervous sleep disorders and gastrointestinal complaints. The antispasmodic effect alleviates stomach and bile complaints.
