- Star anise is the fruit of an evergreen tree from Asia, which can grow up to 20 metres high and takes over 16 years before it bears these valuable fruits for the first time. This tree is a rarity in nature. Neither a bacterium nor a virus and certainly not a fungus can harm it; this tree is almost never affected by various pathogens. Its fruit also carries this power of resistance. When people still had the ability to recognise such characteristics of a plant, they began to use the plants for their own health and it worked!
- One of the better known ingredients is shikimic acid, other components are essential oils such as "anethole" and "cineole", which is also found in eucalyptus, which is also known for its effect on the respiratory tract.
- Magic socks: open a capsule of star anise and mix with a little oil, apply to the soles of the feet, put on socks and leave on for a few hours or overnight.
- Star anise honey: Mix the capsules with honey and "lick" in spoonfuls throughout the day.
