I’m enjoying the weekend. Just a single drop of this heady, sensual rose oil captures the aroma of a bouquet of roses, with all its happy memories. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this cooling oil is used to regulate the flow of energy.
It is the queen of essential oils. Intoxicating, floral and sweet, it brings relaxation, harmony and balance. Even when highly diluted, it gives off an intense aroma.
From 600 AD onwards, the Persians began extracting rose oil. There are over 200 species of rose (18,000 varieties) worldwide, but only a few, such as Rosa damascena and Rosa centifolia, are suitable for oil production. Around 6,000 kg of rose petals yield 1 litre of oil. Traditionally, it is used to relieve abdominal discomfort and to strengthen the heart. The oil is much loved by women and is a valuable aid during the menopause.

Usage
- Add a few drops to an aroma lamp, diffuser or scent carrier. For use in making aromatic cosmetics and massage oils.
- Notes: Do not apply undiluted to the skin without the guidance of a therapist and use for external application only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children. The EU Cosmetics Regulation stipulates a maximum rose oil content of 0.001%. The oil has GRAS (generally recognised as safe) status with the FDA.
