Dr Böhm Monk’s Pepper Forte 20 mg film-coated tablets are a herbal medicine for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) with symptoms such as mood swings, weight gain due to fluid retention in the tissues, and painful tenderness and a feeling of swelling in the breasts.

The active ingredients in the monk’s pepper extract influence the metabolism of certain hormones and neurotransmitters; together, this helps to relieve the monthly recurring symptoms before the onset of menstruation.

This medicine is intended for use by adult women aged 18 and over. If you do not feel any better, or if your symptoms worsen, after 3 months, consult your doctor.

PMS – Menstrual symptoms before your period

Many women suffer from period-related symptoms month after month. The ‘days before your period’ can bring with them a number of hormone-related symptoms (premenstrual syndrome, PMS). It is particularly during this time that a hormonal imbalance in the female body can have a particularly negative effect on well-being.

It is now clearly established that its active ingredients have a harmonising effect on the menstrual cycle, thereby reducing the excessive release of prolactin. Consequently, this leads to noticeable relief from typical PMS symptoms such as mood swings, breast tenderness and swelling, as well as weight gain caused by fluid retention in the tissues.

Dosage

Adult women aged 18 and over: 1 film-coated tablet daily.
Use in children and adolescents: There is no relevant indication for use in prepubertal children. Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended due to a lack of data.
Method of administration: For oral use. The film-coated tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid (e.g. a glass of water), preferably at the same time each day.
Duration of treatment: To achieve the best possible treatment outcome, continuous use for 3 months is recommended. If you do not feel any better, or if you feel worse, after 3 months, consult your doctor.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: dry extract of monk’s pepper fruit (Agni casti fructus).
1 film-coated tablet contains 20 mg of dry extract from monk’s pepper fruit (herb-to-extract ratio 7–13:1); extraction solvent: 60% ethanol (m/m).
The other ingredients are: glucose syrup, mannitol, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, cellulose powder, microcrystalline cellulose, maize starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), hypromellose, macrogol 4000, iron(III) oxide (E 172).
