Dorithricin® Classic throat lozenges contain benzocaine as a topical anaesthetic, as well as the bacteriostatic and bactericidal substances tyrothricin and benzalkonium chloride. Due to this combination of active ingredients, this medicine is used to treat conditions of the mouth and throat.

Indications

For the supportive treatment of mild to moderate inflammation of the throat and oral cavity, such as:

Sore throats and throat pain accompanied by difficulty swallowing
Pharyngitis
Inflammation of the oral mucosa and gums.

Dorithricin® has a proven track record of excellence in the treatment of sore throats and difficulty swallowing for decades. It provides both rapid and effective relief. With its unique active ingredient formula, Dorithricin® not only provides rapid pain relief but also specifically targets viruses and bacteria, halting the infection before the sore throat gets worse.

In the case of severe throat infections or sore throats accompanied by fever, headache, nausea or vomiting, consult a doctor before use. If you do not feel better after 2 days, or if your condition worsens, contact your doctor.

A sore throat is a sign that the body’s defences are weakened and that pathogens have been able to invade. This causes the mucous membranes in the throat and pharynx to become inflamed and swollen. In particularly severe cases, this can also lead to tonsillitis or laryngitis.

Unique active ingredient formula

Dorithricin® stands out thanks to its unique active ingredient formula. It contains three active ingredients in a medically sound combination:

The local anaesthetic benzocaine quickly relieves pain without causing unnecessary numbness.
The anti-infective agent tyrothricin possesses excellent antibacterial properties and is therefore reliably effective against bacterial pathogens. Furthermore, when combined with the other active ingredients, tyrothricin has antiviral effects and locally immunostimulatory properties.
The local antiseptic benzalkonium chloride perfectly complements the action of tyrothricin.

Dosage form

Throat lozenges

Directions for use

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: 1–2 lozenges several times a day (every 2–3 hours). A daily dose of 8 lozenges should not be exceeded.
Children: There are no studies available on children under 12 years of age to confirm the safety and efficacy of Dorithricin Classic throat lozenges in this age group. Therefore, no dosage recommendation can be given for children and adolescents aged 6–11 years. Use in children under 6 years of age is not recommended, as controlled sucking cannot be guaranteed in this age group. Dorithricin Classic throat lozenges must not be used in children under 2 years of age (infants and toddlers), as the correct method of use (sucking) cannot be guaranteed.
Method of administration: For use in the oral cavity. Allow Dorithricin Classic throat lozenges to dissolve slowly in the mouth. Do not allow them to dissolve in the cheek pouch and do not chew or swallow them. Dorithricin Classic throat lozenges should not be used immediately before or after brushing your teeth, as their effectiveness is reduced by toothpaste. Treatment with Dorithricin Classic throat lozenges should be continued for one further day after the symptoms have subsided.
Duration of use: If you do not feel any better after 2 days, or if your symptoms worsen, consult your doctor.
Note for diabetics: The sugar substitute sorbitol contained in 1 lozenge corresponds to approx. 0.07 bread units (BU). Also suitable for diabetics.

The active ingredients are: 1 lozenge contains: tyrothricin 0.5 mg, benzalkonium chloride 1.0 mg, benzocaine 1.5 mg.
The other ingredients are: sorbitol (E 420), talc, sucrose stearate type III, saccharin sodium dihydrate, mint oil, povidone K25, carmellose sodium.
