L-arginine - for the vital + active man:
L-ARGININ VITAL 3.000 from Doppelherz system contains the important protein building block L-arginine and belongs to the group of basic amino acids.
Amino acids are regarded as the smallest basis of proteins and are contained in all our body cells. They are therefore also known as the basic building blocks of the body. Around 20 % of our body consists of amino acids and proteins, with muscles, bones and skin containing particularly large amounts of protein. Although they are also energy sources, it is important that they contain nitrogen (N). L-arginine is considered a precursor of nitric oxide.

L-arginine is a semi-essential amino acid, which means that humans can produce it themselves. The body needs this special protein especially during periods of physical exertion or stressful situations. However, the natural requirement for arginine can exceed the amount produced by the body.

As amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, protein-rich foods are rich in amino acids. Arginine occurs naturally as so-called L-arginine in foods such as fish, meat and eggs, but plant foods such as nuts and pulses also contain larger amounts.
These proteins are broken down in the body into their components, known as amino acids, and then converted back into body protein according to a specific blueprint. This is how dietary protein is turned into structure-forming body protein.
If the dietary intake of L-arginine is insufficient, it can be supplemented with Doppelherz system L-ARGININE VITAL 3,000.

The food supplement Doppelherz system L-ARGININ VITAL provides 3000 mg L-arginine per day - when taken 4 capsules daily.

L-arginine contributes to protein synthesis
Amino acids (proteins) are the basic building blocks of all our body cells, including of course our muscles. The amino acid arginine has a key function because it is involved in protein synthesis.
Protein synthesis refers to the production of proteins, which is the basis for muscle building.

When can the need for protein or amino acids be increased?
It is essential for the human body to regularly consume sufficient protein through food, as it can only store small amounts.
How much protein we should consume each day depends on our body weight. The DGE (German Nutrition Society) recommends around 0.9 grams of protein per kilogramme of body weight per day. For a body weight of 70 kilograms, the daily protein requirement is therefore 63 grams.

However, certain life circumstances such as stress or heavy physical exertion can change the need for protein. For example, physically active people, such as endurance or strength athletes, must adapt their protein requirements to the level of exertion and consume more protein.
Although the calorie requirement decreases with age, the amount of protein consumed should not be reduced, as the body needs protein to compensate for possible tissue loss.

As foods contain different amounts of different amino acids, a mixed diet is best suited to cover the need for essential amino acids.
