Causes of dry eyes
- Environmental factors: climatic changes, pollution, dust, sunlight, dry or very hot air, air conditioning
- Mechanical stress, such as inefficient blinking due to prolonged screen use or extended periods of driving, reading or wearing contact lenses
- Age, the menopause or post-menopausal status, a physiological decrease in the absorption of vitamin B12 from the diet
- Nutrient deficiencies, e.g. reduced or inadequate intake of vitamins
- Blepharitis: In this case, blinking after applying the eye drops also helps to release secretions from the eyelid margins.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible polymer and occurs naturally in many human tissues. Thanks to its viscoelastic and water-retaining properties, it imparts a lubricating effect to the product. Furthermore, it restores tear volume. Rosmarinic acid and vitamin B12 are antioxidants that react with free radicals and neutralise them. The antioxidant effect takes place on the surface of the cornea.
Antioxidant effect
Doppelherz Eye Drops blue light DUO are suitable for dry eyes, eye allergies or other eye complaints caused by environmental or mechanical stress. The eye drops protect against UV radiation and blue light and restore tear volume. By inducing blinking following the application of the drops, they remove allergens from the tear film and counteract the phenomenon of oxidation by enhancing the body’s natural antioxidant mechanisms. In addition, the eye drops reduce mild to moderate symptoms of dry eye, which are accompanied by itching, a burning sensation or a foreign body sensation.
Doppelherz Eye Drops blue light DUO, in combination with rosmarinic acid and vitamin B12, has an antioxidant effect that counteracts the action of free radicals (which are generated on the surface of the eye following sun exposure), which over time damage both the pigment epithelium and the photoreceptors, thereby inducing macular degeneration and causing clouding of the lens leading to the onset of a cataract. Furthermore, thanks to their antioxidant effect, Doppelherz blue light DUO eye drops protect the eyes from damage caused by UV radiation and blue light, both natural (from the sun) and artificial, e.g. from PCs, tablets, smartphones and television screens.
Doppelherz blue light DUO eye drops are also suitable for frequent and prolonged use.
Doppelherz blue light DUO eye drops can be used whilst wearing daily disposable contact lenses: a slight change in the colour of the lenses when removed does not affect their optical properties.
Dosage form
Eye drops – multi-dose
Directions for use
- Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before use.
- Remove the tamper-evident cap before first use.
- Remove the protective cap.
- Squeeze the bottle and instil 2 drops into each eye, unless otherwise prescribed.
- Wait a few seconds after each drop without pressing the bottle. This allows sufficient air to flow back into the system. Otherwise, it will be more difficult to dispense the drops.
- As the bottle gradually empties, greater pressure may be required to dispense the product. This is due to the characteristics of the closure system, which preserves the sterility as well as the chemical and physical properties of preservative-free solutions. Furthermore, a small amount of the solution always remains in the bottle.
- After use, shake the remaining drops off the tip.
- Replace the cap on the bottle immediately after use.
- Do not replace the protective cap whilst the container is still compressed.
- Do not allow the dropper tip to come into contact with anything, including your eyes or fingers.
- The product can be used for up to 3 months after first opening.
