Doppelherz aktiv Stomach Gel Hyaluron Protect is indicated for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux to relieve associated symptoms such as heartburn, stomach burning during pregnancy, reflux oesophagitis, acid regurgitation, indigestion, night-time reflux symptoms, coughing and inflammation of the larynx and throat. 

Mechanism of action

Doppelherz aktiv Stomach Gel Hyaluron Protect is based on a combination of sodium alginate and carbonates and acts via a physical mechanism: upon contact with the acidic environment of the stomach, the sodium alginate – derived from brown algae – forms a gel. At the same time, the carbonates release carbon dioxide, causing this gel to float and form a mechanical barrier that effectively prevents the reflux of stomach acid into the oesophagus.

In addition, bicarbonate reduces the acidity in the stomach. This protective barrier shields the oesophageal mucosa from further acid damage, promotes regeneration and reduces the risk of a relapse in cases of reflux oesophagitis. The precisely formulated composition ensures rapid action. Furthermore, sodium hyaluronate, a moisturising and lubricating mucopolysaccharide, supports the regeneration and protection of the mucous membrane.

Directions for use

• Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 or 2 sachets after meals and before going to bed. Shake well before use. 
• Children under 12 years of age: This product must only be administered on medical advice. Follow your doctor’s instructions for taking the product carefully.
• Warnings: Do not use the product after the expiry date printed on the packaging and the sachets. Do not use in cases of severe renal insufficiency. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. If any adverse reactions occur, stop treatment and consult a doctor. This product may interfere with the absorption of oral medicines. It is therefore recommended that you consult your doctor if taking oral medicines at the same time. These must always be administered at least two hours apart. If no improvement is seen after 7 days of treatment, it is recommended that you consult your doctor. The product may cause a feeling of fullness. Following the instructions for use as provided reduces the likelihood of this happening. This product contains approximately 100 mg of sodium (4.4 mmol) and approximately 36 mg of calcium (0.9 mmol) per sachet (10 ml).
• Important information: Consult your doctor if you are on a low-salt diet, e.g. due to high blood pressure, heart, liver or kidney problems, as well as hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones.
