Product information "Dimestil® 1 mg/g gel"
Dimestil® 1 mg/g gel is an over-the-counter medicine containing the active ingredient: dimetindene maleate - an antihistamine used to relieve skin allergies and itching (pruritus) of various causes.
Dimestil gel reduces itching by blocking the effect of histamine in the body. Histamine is a substance that is released by the body during allergic reactions. As Dimestil Gel is well absorbed into the skin, it relieves itching and irritation of the skin within a few minutes. Dimestil Gel also has a local anaesthetic effect. Dimestil Gel is used in adults, adolescents and children from the age of 1 month for the short-term relief of itching in skin conditions such as skin rashes and hives (urticaria) as well as for insect bites, sunburn and superficial first-degree skin burns (reddening of the skin).
Dimestil Gel should be used in children aged 1 month to 2 years under medical supervision. If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, consult your doctor.

How to use
- Dimestil Gel can be applied thinly to the affected and itchy areas of skin up to 3 times a day in adults, adolescents and children.
- Use in children: Large-area application should be avoided in infants and young children, especially on injured or inflamed skin. Dimestil Gel must not be used in children younger than 1 month, especially premature babies (see section "Dimestil Gel must not be used"). Dimestil Gel should be used in children aged 1 month to 2 years under medical supervision.
- Route of administration: Dimestil Gel is a medicinal product for topical use. It is used on intact skin (without wounds). Do not apply an airtight dressing (occlusive dressing). Do not apply to large areas of skin or to injured skin or mucous membranes. Apply a small amount to the area to be treated. Then gently massage the area with your hand to help the medicine penetrate the skin.
- Duration of use: If you do not feel better or even worse after 3 days, consult your doctor. The maximum duration of treatment without consulting a doctor is 7 days.
