The use of calcium carbonate to bind phosphate can lead to hypercalcaemia (= accumulation of calcium in the blood). Phosphate binders based on lanthanum carbonate were developed for human and veterinary medicine and do not contain calcium.
Lanthanum carbonate already develops strong phosphate binding in the acidic environment of the stomach
The stomach and intestines of cats have different pH values. Lanthanum carbonate is 100% effective in the acidic (stomach) as well as in the alkaline and neutral environment (intestine). Phosphate is mainly absorbed in the small intestine. It makes sense to bind as much phosphate as possible at an early stage, as phosphate bound to lanthanum carbonate can no longer be absorbed by the cat's body. Currently used products, especially those based on calcium carbonate, bind phosphate in a neutral environment, but only to a small percentage in an acidic environment. In addition, lanthanum carbonate has the highest phosphate binding capacity compared to other products, especially those based on calcium carbonate.

It is recommended to seek the advice of a veterinarian before using or extending the feeding period of Catney® One. One stick of Catney® One (containing 455 mg lanthanum carbonate octahydrate) is administered daily with the feed for an initial period of 6 months. Avoid simultaneous use of feed with a high phosphorus content. Offer water for free intake.
- Tear open the top end of the stick.
- Sprinkle the granules over the feed.
- Carefully mix the granules into the food.
- Serve the finished food mixture to the cat.

- Composition: Maltodextrins (obtained from potatoes and maize).
- Additives: Other zootechnical additives: Lanthanum carbonate octahydrate 880 g/kg.
- Analytical constituents: Crude protein (1 %), crude fibre (8-10 %), crude oils and fats (0 %), crude ash (60 %).
