DAOSiN® supplements the body's own DAO enzyme to break down histamine.

What is histamine?

Histamine is a messenger substance that belongs to the so-called biogenic amines, is produced by the body itself, but is also naturally absorbed as a component in many foods .As a biological messenger substance, histamine fulfils various functions in the body. As a neurotransmitter, histamine plays a role in regulating the sleep-wake rhythm, appetite control or learning ability and memory performance , among other things . Above all, however, histamine acts as a mediator of inflammatory processes in allergic reactions.

What happens to histamine from food?

Normally, the consumption of histamine-containing foods has no effect, as histamine is quickly broken down by the body's own enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), mainly in the intestine. With a histamine-rich diet, the enzyme DiAminOxidase (DAO) may not be available in sufficient quantities, which can lead to a delayed breakdown of histamine in the intestine. Alcohol and some medications can also largely inhibit the activity of the DAO enzyme. If histamine is broken down with a delay, its level initially increases in the body.

Which foods contain histamine?

In particular, foods that mature for a long time or are stored for a long time have a high content of histamine and other biogenic amines. In addition, a number of foods act as so-called histamine liberators, as they also releasehistamine in the intestine . Examples include the following foods:

Alcohol, especially red wine and sparkling wine
cheese
Seafood, fish and fish sauces
Raw sausages, such as salami or bacon
Sauerkraut
Various vegetables, e.g. tomatoes, spinach, aubergines
Various types of fruit, e.g. strawberries, pineapple, bananas

In particular, the combined consumption of foods with a high histamine content, such as alcohol and cheese, can contribute to an increase in histamine levels in the body.

How does DAOSiN® work?

Consuming the DAOSiN® capsule before a meal increases the amount of DAO in the small intestine and thus the ability of the natural DAO to break down histamine. As a result, a sufficient breakdown of histamine from food in the digestive tract can be achieved.

How to use

Important note: Always take DAOSiN® before a meal (ideally approx. 15 minutes before). By the time the histamine-containing food reaches the intestine , the capsule should already have dissolved and the DAO it contains should be active.
Consume one capsule with a little water 15 minutes before a histamine-containing meal. The maximum daily intake is 3 capsules (equivalent to 3 histamine-containing meals per day).
The capsule contents should not be chewed before swallowing, but should be swallowed whole so that the contents pass through the stomach to the intestine undamaged. If you have difficulty swallowing, you can open the capsule and swallow the contents whole with water. Do not bite or chew.

Stabiliser: microcrystalline cellulose; capsule shell (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose); sucrose; L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C); rice starch; coating agent: shellac; stabiliser: Hydroxypropylcellulose; protein extract from pig kidney (0.1 % DiAminOxidase); bulking agent: polyvinylpolypyrrolidone; anti-caking agent: talc; modified starch; thickening agent: sodium carboxymethylcellulose; humectant: glycerol.
