Cutimed Sorbion Carbon+ is the ideal wound dressing for heavily exuding wounds. The innovative combination of activated charcoal and super-absorbent material reliably neutralises unpleasant odours and promotes an optimal wound healing environment.
Effective exudate management that reduces wound odour
Cutimed® Sorbion® Carbon+ reliably absorbs and stores wound exudate in its super-absorbent core, even under compression. This helps to eliminate factors that inhibit wound healing, such as bacteria, proteases and inflammatory mediators, and minimises the risk of maceration. At the same time, the dressing maintains a moist wound environment, which supports the body’s own wound-healing process. The high absorption capacity of Cutimed Sorbion® Carbon+ allows for a longer period of wound rest compared with conventional wound dressings. The improved fluid absorption capacity reduces unpleasant odours. Dead tissue adheres to the dressing and is gently removed during dressing changes, thereby aiding wound cleansing (soft debridement). The top layer is particularly flexible, waterproof and breathable, and acts as a bacterial barrier. Small black particles may be visible through the wound-contact layer. This is common in products containing activated carbon and does not affect the product’s performance or safety.
The structure of Cutimed® Sorbion® Carbon+
Cutimed® Sorbion® Carbon+ is a sterile, hydroactive, gel-forming, highly exudate-absorbent wound dressing that provides an effective and long-lasting reduction in wound-related odours. This is based on the dual action of activated charcoal and naturally occurring minerals. Cutimed® Sorbion® Carbon+ consists of a highly water-retaining, super-absorbent core, a wound-contact layer made of hypoallergenic polypropylene and a breathable, waterproof backing made of polyurethane.
- Wound odour control – Combines activated carbon with the natural mineral zeolite, so that odour molecules are bound within the dressing --> Long-lasting odour reduction.
- Reliably locks in fluid – Absorbs wound fluid and reliably locks it within the highly absorbent core. Eliminates factors that inhibit wound healing, including bacteria and proteases.
