Cutimed® Sorbact® tamponades with their unique mechanism of action have proven successful as a drug-free antimicrobial treatment for contaminated and infected wounds.

Cutimed® Sorbact® is an innovative wound dressing that combats infections in a particularly safe and efficient way - purely physically. Cutimed® Sorbact® binds germs according to the principle of hydrophobic interaction and does not require the use of chemical antimicrobial substances: The special Sorbact® coating gives the product strong hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties. Many pathogenic bacteria and fungi are hydrophobic by nature and therefore bind to the Sorbact® fabric. This reduces the number of germs in the wound with each dressing change and creates optimum conditions for the natural wound healing process.

Areas of application

Cutimed® Sorbact® is suitable for all clean, colonised, contaminated or infected, exuding wounds:

• Chronic wounds (e.g. venous, arterial or diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcers)
• Post-operative wounds and wound dehiscences
• Traumatic wounds
• Wounds after excision of fistulas and abscesses
• Fungal skin infections (applies to tamponade)

• Duration of application: depending on the indication.
• Dressing change: depending on the amount of exudate and the overall condition of the wound and wound environment, up to 7 days if the clinical condition permits.
