Cutimed® Sorbact® dressings, with their unique mechanism of action, have proven successful as an active-ingredient-free antimicrobial treatment for contaminated and infected wounds.

Cutimed® Sorbact® is an innovative wound dressing that combats infections in a particularly safe and efficient manner – purely through physical means. Cutimed® Sorbact® binds pathogens based on the principle of hydrophobic interaction and does not require the use of chemical antimicrobial substances: the special Sorbact® coating gives the product strong hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties. Many pathogenic bacteria and fungi are naturally hydrophobic and therefore bind to the Sorbact® fabric. This means that with every dressing change, the bacterial count in the wound is reduced, creating optimal conditions for the natural wound healing process.

Indications

Cutimed® Sorbact® is suitable for all clean, colonised, contaminated or infected, exuding wounds:

• Chronic wounds (e.g. venous, arterial or diabetic ulcers, as well as pressure sores)
• Post-operative wounds and wound dehiscences
• Traumatic wounds
• Wounds following the excision of fistulas and abscesses
• Fungal skin infections (applies to the dressing)

• Duration of use: depends on the indication.
• Dressing changes: depending on the amount of exudate and the overall condition of the wound and the surrounding area; up to 7 days, provided the clinical condition permits.
