Convatec CarboFlex® non-adherent primary dressing 10 x 10 cm, 10 ST

CarboFlex® is a sterile, non-adherent primary dressing for superficial wounds or as a secondary dressing over a wound filler for deep wounds. Five-layer dressing specifically designed for the management of malodourous wounds.

CarboFlex® consists of an absorbent wound contact layer, an activated charcoal layer in the centre and a soft, water-resistant outer layer.

Foul-smelling wounds, caused by various factors such as infection, tissue breakdown, etc., can be a burden for patients, their relatives and those treating them. In addition to combating the causes, e.g. debridement, infection control, CarboFlex®, the dressing with activated charcoal, is suitable for odour control.

Mode of action

• The wound contact layer made of Hydrofibre® and calcium-sodium alginate mixture absorbs the wound exudate and creates an optimal, moist wound environment.
• The first EMA film quickly draws water vapour upwards out of the dressing through the pores and protects the activated charcoal from moisture.
• The activated charcoal binds unpleasant odours.
• The absorption pad absorbs excess moisture so that the activated carbon underneath remains dry.
• The second EMA film draws the moisture from the absorption pad outwards through the pores.

Instructions for use

• Do not cut CarboFlex®.
• CarboFlex® must not be covered with airtight materials.
• A non-adherent tubular bandage, gauze bandages or adhesive strips are suitable for fixation.

• CarboFlex® must not be cut. Non-adherent tubular dressings, gauze bandages or adhesive film dressing strips are suitable for securing CarboFlex®. CarboFlex® must never be covered with occlusive wound dressings.
• Recommended wearing time: maximum 3 days.
