Convatec CarboFlex® non-adherent primary dressing 10 x 10 cm, 10 ST

CarboFlex® is a sterile, non-adherent primary dressing for superficial wounds or as a secondary dressing over a wound filler for deep wounds. A five-layer dressing specially developed for the management of malodorous wounds.

CarboFlex® consists of an absorbent wound-contact layer, a layer of activated charcoal in the centre and a soft, water-resistant outer layer.

Malodourous wounds, caused by various factors such as infections, tissue breakdown, etc., can be a burden for patients, their relatives and healthcare professionals alike. In addition to addressing the underlying causes – such as debridement and infection control – CarboFlex®, the activated charcoal dressing, is suitable for odour absorption.

Mode of action

• The wound-contact layer, made from a mixture of Hydrofiber® and calcium-sodium alginate, absorbs wound exudate and creates an optimal, moist wound environment.
• The first EMA film rapidly transports water vapour upwards through its pores out of the dressing and protects the activated carbon from moisture.
• The activated charcoal neutralises unpleasant odours.
• The absorbent pad absorbs excess moisture, ensuring that the activated carbon underneath remains dry.
• The second EMA film channels moisture from the absorbent pad outwards through its pores.

Instructions for use

• Do not cut CarboFlex®.
• CarboFlex® must not be covered with airtight materials.
• A non-adhesive tubular dressing, gauze bandages or adhesive tape are suitable for securing it in place.

Usage

• CarboFlex® must not be cut. Non-adhesive tubular dressings, gauze bandages or adhesive film dressing strips are suitable for securing CarboFlex®. Under no circumstances must CarboFlex® be covered with occlusive wound dressings.
• Recommended duration of use: maximum 3 days.

Composition: ethylene methyl acrylate film (EMA film), absorbent pads (viscose, polyethylene, polypropylene), activated charcoal layer, ethylene methyl acrylate film (EMA film), Hydrofiber® / calcium-sodium alginate mixture.
