The VARIHESIVE® hydrogel from ConvaTec for the effective treatment of chronic and acute wounds. Promotes an optimal wound environment for accelerated healing.
VARIHESIVE® Hydrogel is a sterile gel consisting of hydrocolloids (pectin, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) in a viscous base. VARIHESIVE® Hydrogel is particularly suitable for dry or slightly exuding wounds to create a moist wound environment and to support the autolysis of fibrin deposits and necrotic tissue
Fields of application
- VARIHESIVE® Hydrogel is suitable for the treatment of superficial and deep wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure sores. The gel creates a moist wound healing environment and supports natural wound cleansing through autolysis.
Dosage form
Gel
How to use
- Clean the wound carefully with sterile water, saline solution or Ringer's solution. Dry the skin surrounding the wound.
- Open the cap of the tube and remove the white safety ring.
- Screw the cap back onto the tube to pierce the membrane.
- The sterilised applicator can be attached to the neck of the tube to facilitate handling in deeper wounds. Apply VARIHESIVE HYDROGEL directly to the wound. Do not fill the wound above the level of the surrounding skin. By covering the wound with a moist wound dressing, such as VARIHESIVE® E, VARIHESIVE® EXTRA THIN, you create an optimal moist wound healing environment.
- VARIHESIVE® Hydrogel should be changed when the secondary dressing starts to leak or when it is changed routinely. The gel can be rinsed out of the wound with sterile saline solution or Ringer's solution. It is recommended that VARIHESIVE HYDROGEL is changed at least every three days for infected, necrotic wounds and at least every seven days for clean, granulating wounds.
