The Cellona® plaster bandage from Lohmann & Rauscher is a versatile product for immobilisation following fractures. It offers a range of benefits that make it a popular choice amongst healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Cellona® plaster bandages are intended for the
application of immobilising plaster casts to
parts of the body following injuries and
fractures, as well as for the creation of
splints and reinforcements for circular
plaster casts.
Versatility for flexible plaster casts
Combining stability and comfort: Ready-to-dip Cellona plaster bandages have a smooth, creamy texture and are pliable when moulded. They are used for immobilisation following fractures. Furthermore, they are used following operations and orthopaedic corrections to treat joint and bone conditions, thereby supporting the healing process.
Adaptable and able to bear weight quickly
Cellona plaster bandages allow for time-saving application and easy adaptation to the relevant part of the body. They have a relatively short soaking time and allow rapid wetting. Furthermore, the finished cast can bear weight early on and is safe for transport after 30 minutes. Full hardening is achieved after approximately 24 hours.

Application
- Dip the bandage at an angle into water heated to 20 °C – 25 °C (approx. 1 second per metre of bandage). Caution: The temperature of the dipping water must not exceed 25 °C, as this leads to an increase in the setting temperature, which may cause burns to the patient.
- Remove the bandage from the water and allow it to drain. Then squeeze the bandage gently to remove excess water.
- Apply Cellona® plaster bandages in a circular motion without applying tension, ensuring that the layers overlap by about half. Then mould the plaster thoroughly to ensure good bonding between the layers. Take care to ensure that no pressure marks develop.
The setting time is 3–4 minutes. Cellona®
plaster dressings can bear partial weight after 30 minutes
and full weight after 36–48 hours.
The set plaster can be removed using standard
tools.
