The Cellacare® Rhizocast Classic orthosis stabilises the wrist and thumb. Ideal for rhizarthrosis, ski thumb & injuries. Breathable material & anatomical fit for high wearing comfort.

Cellacare® Rhizocast Classic is an orthosis for the wrist and thumb. The combination of a palmar splint, an ulnar splint, two radial splints that also cover the thumb and four stabilisation straps immobilises the wrist, the thumb saddle joint and the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. The splints can be customised by a specialist if required.

Cellacare Rhizocast Classic is a wrist and thumb orthosis for immobilisation in two directions of movement. It enables immobilisation of the thumb saddle joint and the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb

Areas of application

• Immobilisation for post-traumatic, post-operative conditions in the wrist area and thumb metacarpophalangeal and/or thumb saddle joint as well as for ulnar ligament injuries (ski thumb)
• Immobilisation for degenerative changes in the metacarpophalangeal and / or thumb saddle joint (scapho-trapezio-trapezoid arthrosis, rhizarthrosis)
• Immobilisation for inflammatory conditions of the tendon apparatus of the hand (tendovaginitis)
• Immobilisation for initial carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)

How to use

1. Open all four Velcro fasteners. Make sure that the straps do not slip out of the buckles. Then slide your hand and thumb into the orthosis so that the thumb fits into the recess provided.
2. Close the strap above the hand by pulling it further through the buckle and secure it on the orthosis in the opposite direction using the Velcro fastener. Repeat this process with the strap over the forearm.
3. Guide the wide strap around the wrist and fasten it using the Velcro fastener.
4. Tighten the small strap around the thumb and fasten it using the Velcro fastener.
5. Check the fit of the orthosis and the straps and, if necessary, correct the pressure by adjusting the tension. It is recommended that the splints are customised by a specialist to ensure that the orthosis fits perfectly.

Care recommendation: Wash the orthosis at 30 °C (gentle cycle) with similar colours. Do not use bleach. Allow Cellacare® Rhizocast Classic to air dry away from heat sources; do not tumble dry. Do not iron or dry clean. Close the Velcro fasteners and use a laundry net if possible. Clean the Velcro fasteners regularly to ensure that they retain their adhesive properties and to ensure the effectiveness of the product.
