Product information "Burgerstein iron vegan mini tablets"
Burgerstein Iron Vegan Mini-Tablets are a food supplement containing organic iron and vitamin B12, which together contribute to the normal functioning of energy metabolism and help reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in humans worldwide. It develops gradually and is often not yet detectable in a basic blood test. Yet iron is a vital trace element for all living cells.
The product is characterised by good tolerability, ease of use (small mini-tablets) and a practical click dispenser. Furthermore, the product is versatile and can be easily combined with other products to effectively address iron deficiency or increased iron requirements.
- Iron is found in many plant-based foods, but in a less readily absorbable form known as non-haem iron. Phytates from cereals or pulses, as well as polyphenols in coffee or black tea, significantly reduce iron absorption. In contrast, haem iron is found exclusively in animal-based foods such as meat, fish, seafood and eggs, and has significantly better bioavailability.
- Vitamin B12 cannot be obtained in sufficient quantities from food alone on a strictly vegan diet, as it is mainly found in animal products. Therefore, taking additional supplements is essential, even with a balanced vegan diet.
Vegan iron support:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women: have a daily requirement of approximately 20 to 30 mg (according to German health authorities). Iron contributes to normal blood formation.
- Women during menstruation
- Vegans: Iron is absorbed more effectively from animal-based foods, which can lead to deficiency symptoms.
- Children & adolescents: Growth creates an increased requirement that often cannot be met through diet alone. According to the German Nutrition Society (DGE), iron intake should be between 8 and 10 mg (for children aged between 1 and 9 years).
- During sport: Iron has a significant influence on oxygen transport in the blood. Athletes, particularly those involved in endurance sports, may experience deficiency symptoms.
