Bios Tyrosine 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing L-tyrosine. L-tyrosine is the natural form of tyrosine and a non-essential amino acid.
Like all proteinogenic amino acids, the aromatic amino acid tyrosine is involved in the formation of proteins. It is produced in the liver by hydroxylation of the amino acid phenylalanine and serves as a starting substance for the formation of the mood-enhancing neurotransmitters dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline. These messenger substances play a central role in controlling our emotions. An imbalance in their production or availability can affect mood and general well-being. Tyrosine is also involved in the synthesis of phenylethylamine (PEA), a stimulating neurotransmitter that is increasingly released during euphoric moments. This has vitalising and slightly stimulating properties.
These neurotransmitters are increasingly utilised under high everyday stress levels, which can lead to a shortage. This in turn could lead to mood imbalances. Tyrosine is also the starting material for the formation of the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, as well as melanin, which is responsible for the pigmentation of the skin
