Bios Tyrosine 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing L-tyrosine. L-tyrosine is the natural form of tyrosine and a non-essential amino acid.
The aromatic amino acid tyrosine, like all proteinogenic amino acids, is involved in the formation of proteins. It is produced in the liver through the hydroxylation of the amino acid phenylalanine and serves as a precursor for the formation of the mood-enhancing neurotransmitters dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline. These neurotransmitters play a central role in regulating our emotions. An imbalance in their production or availability can affect mood and general well-being. Tyrosine is also involved in the synthesis of phenylethylamine (PEA), a stimulating neurotransmitter that is released in greater quantities during moments of euphoria. It has revitalising and mildly stimulating properties.
Under high levels of everyday stress, these neurotransmitters are used up more rapidly, which can lead to a shortage. This, in turn, could result in mood imbalances. In addition, tyrosine is a precursor for the formation of the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, as well as melanin, which is responsible for skin pigmentation.
