Bios Mangosteen Capsules are a food supplement containing 400 mg mangosteen fruit rind extract standardised to 20 % α-mangosteen per capsule.

The mangosteen is reverently referred to as the queen of fruits in South East Asia. It owes this illustrious nickname to Queen Victoria of England, who, according to legend, promised knighthood to any sailor who brought her this tasty fruit. Mangosteen is the fruit of the slow-growing mangosteen tree, which is native to tropical regions with a hot and humid climate and bears fruit for the first time after 10 years. In this extreme environment, the tree has to protect itself from intense sunlight, heat and insect pests. Numerous bioactive substances help it to do this. This tree is therefore the epitome of a defenceless and adapted plant organism. The peel of the mangosteen in particular contains over 40 bioactive, natural chemical compounds called xanthones, some of which act as powerful antioxidants.
