Bios Citrulline 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing the amino acid L-citrulline. Citrulline is a non-proteinogenic amino acid, which means that it is not involved in the formation of proteins.
Rather, citrulline is an intermediate product of the urea cycle. In this process, nitrogenous breakdown products are metabolised and then excreted in the urine. Citrulline is the precursor of arginine and is therefore particularly popular with sports enthusiasts. For athletes in particular, strength and endurance are crucial issues and more energy leads to increased performance. Arginine is also the sole precursor for the formation of nitric oxide (NO), a small substance which, among other things, supports the blood flow to the muscles.
