Betadona® Wound Spray – Betadona Wound Spray is the ideal treatment for wounds such as cuts caused by contaminated objects, deep grazes, lacerations, burst blisters and grazed toes.
Povidone-iodine has a broad-spectrum antimicrobial effect. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses and certain single-celled organisms (protozoa). Reliable wound disinfection largely prevents infections and promotes rapid, trouble-free healing. Due to its mode of action, there is no risk of pathogens developing resistance to povidone-iodine. By binding to povidone, the iodine largely loses the irritating properties of alcoholic iodine preparations and is well tolerated by the skin, mucous membranes and wounds. During the process of action, the iodine loses its colour; the depth of the brown discolouration therefore indicates its effectiveness. Once the colour has faded, a further application is required. Povidone-iodine is water-soluble and easily washed off.

Directions for use
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
The recommended dose is:
- Spray onto the affected area once or several times a day until it is visibly covered with the golden-brown povidone-iodine powder.
- If the powder wears off, reapply.
Use in children: In newborns and infants up to 6 months of age, Betadona® Wound Spray should only be used after a strict risk-benefit assessment by the doctor and only to a very limited extent.
Betadona® Wound Spray is intended for external use only.
Shake the spray can vigorously before use, hold it upright and spray onto the area to be treated from a distance of 15 cm. The propellant evaporates immediately and the cooling sensation caused by the spray disappears very quickly. Betadona® Wound Spray forms a dry film on the treated area and is easily washed off. If necessary, a dressing may be applied over it. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
